I am sending this request under the Freedom of Information Act.

Please state the amount spent by the fire service on animal rescues in each of the following calendar years:

2016

Please state the number of animals rescued by the fire service in each of the following calendar years:

Please provide an annual breakdown by type of animal rescued, and brief details about each incident (if possible within the cost limit).

Has the fire service charged members of the public for any of these rescues in the last 3 calendar years? If so, please provide a breakdown of these charges.

Does the fire service employ (or have you every employed) an animal rescue specialist?

If this information is only available in financial years (2014/15, 2015/16 2016/17) then please provide it nonetheless.

Thank you for your Freedom of Information Request. Under Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act please refer to our website which already contains the information you have requested in question 1a-c and 2a-c: https://www.shropshirefire.gov.uk/animal-rescues-2012-2016 With regards to questions 3 and 4, please refer below: 3) Has the fire service charged members of the public for any of these rescues in the last 3 calendar years? If so, please provide a breakdown of these charges. – Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service has not charged for any of these rescues in the last 3 calendar years. 4) Does the fire service employ (or have you every employed) an animal rescue specialist? – Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service has not employed and does not currently employ an animal specialist. We do however have a small team of Firefighters at Wellington trained to train our staff to various levels of skills and knowledge in animal rescues. Any training for our internal instructors has been sourced from other FRS’s or organisations. That team are available to respond to animal rescue Incidents.
