“Gas cloud” training for Shropshire firefighters

Firefighters are preparing for a major training exercise to deal with a gas cloud over Shrewsbury caused by a supposed chemical spillage at an oil depot.

Andrew Simpson, a Private with the Mercian Regiment, clung onto a branch to keep the pair above the water line as they waited for rescuers to arrive.
