I was hoping to obtain information with regards to false alarm incident in Shropshire.

  1. How many false alarm incidents have Shropshire Fire and Rescue been called out to in 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2014? (Please could you break down the above for Telford, Shrewsbury, Wem, Market Drayton, Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Whitchurch, Oswestry, Newport and Ellesmere - if possible)
  2. How much has attending false alarm incidents cost Shropshire Fire and Rescue in 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2014?
  3. How many false alarm incidents were trigged by automatic fire alarms in 2017,2016, 2015 and 2014?
  4. How much has attending false alarm incidents caused by automatic fire alarms cost Shropshire Fire and Rescue in 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2014?
  5. How many hoax calls did Shropshire Fire and Rescue in 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2014?
  6. How much did attending hoax caller incidents cost the authority in 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2014?

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request. 1)Please see the attached spreadsheet. False alarms are recorded as either Apparatus (Automatic Fire Alarms), False Alarm Good Intent, and False Alarm Malicious, (hoax calls). The incidents on the sheet represent the number of call outs to each type of call for each year, for each fire ground area in Shropshire. 2)Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service does not record the cost of attending false alarm incidents, however an indicative cost could be calculated based upon the equivalent of the special services charges tariff for 2017/18 (please follow the link) https://www.shropshirefire.gov.uk/meeting/agenda/annual-review-charges-special-services-201718. 3) Please see the spreadsheet attached. 4) Please see the response to question 2. 5) Please see the spreadsheet attached. 6) Please see the response to question 2.
