Response detail:

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request. Please find attached a spreadsheet that contains the number of fires caused by tumble dryers for the period 2009-2017 by month. Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service does not hold records prior to this period. Additionally where recorded the make and model of the tumble dryer is included. Please note that there have been no fires caused by tumble dryers in 2017 to date. With regard to estimated cost for resources used, we can provide an indicative cost based upon the equivalent special services charges tariff for 2016/17 (please follow the link) https://www.shropshirefire.gov.uk/meeting/agenda/annual-review-charges-special-services-201617 which gives you the cost per hour for the type of vehicle that attended, which you can use to calculate the cost by using the length of time the Service attended multiplied by the number of vehicles.
