Crews were called to a serious house fire in Tilstock Crescent, Shrewsbury at 16:42hrs today the 16th September 2012.
The fire was so severe; it spread to a neighbouring property, resulting in significant damage to both houses. Crews from Shrewsbury, Wellington and Baschurch worked extremely hard in difficult conditions and at the height of the blaze approximately 35 Firefighters were on scene.
Crews used breathing apparatus, main jets and an aerial ladder platform to bring the flames under control.
Although both properties had working smoke detectors, residents were alerted to the fire by neighbours and evacuated prior to the arrival of the Fire Service.
Fire Investigators are at the scene, establishing the origin and cause of the fire and crews continue to make the area safe.
