Shropshire schoolchildren will join firefighters and staff from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service at its annual Christmas Festival of Carols in Shrewsbury on December 15.
This year the service will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, and attended by youngsters from Meole Brace Primary and Nursery School.
The Service will be led by Brigade Chaplain Rev Peter Barnes and Rev Phil Cansdale, of Holy Trinity Church, Meole Brace.Traditional Carol music will be provided by students from Meole Brace School Science College and church organist Anastasia Lawrence.
Families are welcome to attend the event, which starts at 7pm, as Father Christmas will be making an appearance with gifts for young children
The Parent Teachers Association from Meole Brace Primary and Nursery School will benefit from the fundraising event with other donations due to be made to the Fire Fighters Charity and Holy Trinity Church.
Shrewsbury Mayor, Councillor Kath Owen, will read to the congregation along with Canon Stephen Coonan, Dean of Shrewsbury Cathedral and Regional Dean for Shropshire.
Meole Brace Primary and Nursery School head Jenny Davies will join Ged Edwards, the brigade’s Planning and Performance Manager and fire control operator Theresa Simmonds with a Christmas message.
“It is an annual event for us at Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and promises to be a most entertaining evening. It is always a relaxed occasion with rousing singing from everyone,” said Chief Fire Officer Paul Raymond.
“Everyone is invited to join us after the service at the Bradbury Hall next door to the church to join in the festive cheer with some refreshments.”
