Firefighters cycle via Shrewsbury on charity bike ride

The firefighters line up at Shrewbury Fire Station before cycling to Preston

The team of ten firefighters who are cycling from Lands' End to John O'Groats stopped off in Shrewsbury overnight before heading North to Preston this morning.

The 90 mile journey will be made harder by the hot weather and there is a possibility that the team may have to cross the Mersey by ferry after being informed they are not allowed to cycle through the Mersey Tunnel.

Chocolate bonus

A kind member of the public has donated a 5 kilogram bar of chocolate to Wellington Fire Station to be raffled to raise funds alongside the firefighters' bike ride. The tickets will be drawn on Friday May 19th.

The firefighters will be raising funds for Fire Services National Benevolent Fund, Hope House Children's Hospice and the local Macmillan Cancer Relief.
