Police appeal following possible arson, Donnington

Police in Telford are appealing for witnesses following a suspicious fire in Donnington. The incident occurred on St Matthews Road on Tuesday 1 March.

At just after 2am police received reports that three individuals had been seen walking down the road carrying a petrol can. On attending St Matthews Road, police discovered that a blue MG ZR car was on fire and the fire service was called immediately.

One fire appliance from Wellington attended and dealt with the car fire it appears that the driver's side window had been smashed by the petrol can as Police Officers found this on the driver's seat of the vehicle.

At least £1500 of damage was caused to the MG as a result of this incident.

An area search was carried out for the three individuals seen acting suspiciously - who were described as young white men, dressed all in black and wearing hooded tops - but there was no sign of them in the area around the fire.
