Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is proud to celebrate the success of our community partner, Telford Community Basketball CIC, which has been named the national winner of the Positive Impact Award at the 2025 Growing Business Awards in London.
This award recognises organisations making a real difference in people’s lives, and Telford Community Basketball CIC stood out for its commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, and positive pathways for all ages. Through basketball, the group brings together people from diverse backgrounds, helping to build confidence, improve mental health, and strengthen community ties.
The initiative works closely with partners including Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, West Mercia Police, Sport England, and local schools to reach those who need support most. Telford Central Fire Station will be hosting games in 2026.
Station manager Paul Gray said, “We are really pleased to be partnering with Telford community basketball CIC we look forward to welcoming them to the station next year and helping to support the community through this fantastic initiative.
“We congratulate Telford Community Basketball CIC on this incredible achievement and look forward to continuing our work together to keep communities connected, active, and safe.”
