Re recent open days

Please provide all recorded information surrounding your recent open days

and the decision to exclude white males.

Response detail:

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request.

Under Section 158 of the Equality Act 2010 we are allowed to hold positive action for under-represented groups - https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2010/15/contents. As white males are not currently under represented in the Service we do not hold positive action sessions for them.  Please refer to our workforce statistics which are available on our website: https://www.shropshirefire.gov.uk/equality-diversity.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service does not hold any recorded information on the decision to exclude white males from our recent open days, this is because there has not been any decision made to exclude this group. We are holding taster days open to all in September and October. Please also refer to our press release and FAQs on this: https://www.shropshirefire.gov.uk/news/response-positive-action-taster-days

If you are unhappy with the way your request for information has been handled, you can complain or request an internal review of the decision. You can do this by writing to the Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, St. Michael’s Street, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY1 2HJ or email: enquiries@shropshirefire.gov.uk
