At 23:49 on Wednesday, 14 December, 2016, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as Water Rescue in Shrewsbury.

3 fire appliances including the Water Rescue Unit were mobilised from Shrewsbury. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.

1 person reported to have entered the river at the rear of the Sixth form college. Full search of river made by Fire Service using boat. No persons found and following liaison with Police and Ambulance staff search discontinued
