Safety at Work

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is committed to enforcing the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which came into force in October 2006. This has repealed most of the previous pieces of Fire Safety Legislation. The Fire Safety Order places a duty on the owner, employer or responsible person to carry out a Fire Risk Assessment at their respective places of work.

Business Fire Safety Interactive Game

A new online interactive tool has been developed in conjunction with the National Fire Chiefs Council, Eyecademy, and 925 Studios at Northampton University to help small businesses understand their legal duties in regards to fire safety in the working environment.

The business fire safety awareness tool helps business owners learn their legal obligations, responsibilities around premise fire risk inspections, and a general overview of workplace fire safety, in a fun and engaging way. The tool allows you to work your way around the virtual workplace, correcting the identified issues and making it safer, afterwards you will be tested on your general fire safety knowledge.

Please note that this tool is for general fire safety awareness in the workplace, it is not intended as a training tool for completing a Fire Risk Assessment.
