Charity car wash

29th September, 2012

Location:

Shropshire

Fire crews will be out across the county for the National Car Wash 2012 event – the charity’s largest fundraising event of the year to raise money for injured firefighters.

In Shrewsbury, they are being joined by Rybrook Shrewsbury car dealership staff who are transferring their own Saturday car wash service for their Mini customers to Shrewsbury fire station. Barclays Bank staff in Shrewsbury have volunteered to help at the car wash and their manager said Barclays will donate a pound for every pound raised as part of their support.

Motorists are invited to make a donation to the charity in exchange for a very clean car. They will also be able to pick up information on fire safety in the home and ask any questions about smoke alarms or fire prevention.

Motorists can get their car washed on the drill yard at Shrewsbury fire station in St Michael's Street from 10.30am to 2.30pm on September 29 and at Cleobury Mortimer fire station on the same day. Whitchurch firefighters raised £350 with their efforts last week.

The National Car Wash is the charity's largest fundraising event of the year and involves fire stations throughout the UK washing the nation’s cars, in exchange for a donation.
