Madeley On The Map Event

22nd May, 2010

Location:

Anstice Square in Madeley

Residents living in and around south Telford are being encouraged to attend an event in Madeley these weekend where, in addition to the specially organised celebrations that are already going on, they will also have the chance to put their questions and concerns to representatives from agencies including the police, the local council, the NHS and the Fire Service.

The 'Your Community Matters' event is taking place in conjunction with the 'Madeley on the Map' celebrations in Anstice Square in Madeley on Saturday 22 May.

'Your Community Matters' aims to give residents living in Telford the chance to find out more about their local services and also the unique opportunity to speak, face-to-face, with operational staff from the agencies that deliver them. Although this particular event is taking place in south Telford is worth remembering that anyone is welcome to approach the agencies on the day, no matter where they live.

Mrs Jenny Wynn, who chairs the 'Your Community Matters' organising group, said:

"'Your Community Matters' events give local people the unique opportunity to meet face-to-face with representatives from their local service providers and we hope that as many of them as possible take advantage of this opportunity.

"The organisations represented at 'Your Community Matters 'are all committed to providing a good service to the public and therefore great importance is placed on engaging with the public at events such as this. However, we simply cannot make improvements if local people do not share their issues and concerns with us and therefore it is vital people come to this event.

"By taking 'Your Community Matters' to events in communities that are already likely to be attended by a large number of people - like the Madeley on the Map Celebratory Event - we feel that we will be able to talk to more people than we ever have before.

"We want to help and we want to do our best, but what we think is working well may not be what is being experienced in the communities across Telford & Wrekin. With that in mind, we would encourage people to come along and tell us what their problems are and how we can help them."

Mrs Wynn continued:

"Representatives from all the major service providers such as West Mercia Police, Wrekin Housing Trust, Telford & Wrekin NHS Trust, Telford & Wrekin Council and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service will be attending the Madeley on the Map celebration event as well as many other smaller organisations too.

"Please take this opportunity to share you thoughts with those agencies in attendance - without your help we are far less able to tackle the issues that really will make the lives of local people better."
