Huge Success For Fire Service Open Days

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service’s 75th Anniversary celebrations were a huge success after hundreds of people visited our fire stations to help mark the occasion.

The Service launched its celebration on 2nd September and welcomed members of the public into the fire stations to see the crews carry out demonstrations, visit our historical exhibit, have a go on the fire engines and enjoy a host of activities as well as the food and drinks.

Chief Fire Officer Simon Hardiman said: “I would like to thank everyone who came to our events and helped make them special. It was fantastic to see such a great turn out on what was one of the nicest days we’ve had so far this summer.

“We were delighted to have the opportunity to speak to so many members of our community, give some safety advice and hopefully give you an insight into your fire service.

“We are here to serve our community and it was such a joy to interact with so many people as well raise an impressive £1,255 for the Fire Fighters Chairty.

“I’d like to thank everyone who donated to the cause and contributed to the day itself. Without the help our partners in the ambulance service, the Blood Bikes and all the local vendors who contributed, the day would not have been the special occasion it was.

“lastly I’d like to recognise all the staff within the Service who worked extremely hard to pull the event together.”

The Service would like to say a special thanks to
