At 06:10 on Thursday, 2 June, 2022, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as Animal Rescue in Ellesmere.
2 fire appliances were mobilised from Wellington. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Also at the scene of the incident were: a vet.
This incident relates to a cow that had been trapped in the canal overnight. Water first responders used halters and lines to walk/swim the cow downstream to an embankment for her to safely exit the canal.
