At 00:58 on Thursday, 31 August, 2023, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as House Fire Persons Reported in Newport.

2 fire appliances were mobilised from Newport. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Reports of house fire which involved cooking left unattended by occupier. Fire crews ventilated property and used thermal image camera. There were no casulaties.
