At 02:32 on Thursday, 25 January, 2024, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as AFA in Newport.

2 fire appliances were mobilised from Newport and Wellington.

Automatic fire alarm activation believed to be caused by system fault. Fire crews undertook thorough external investigation using thermal image camera and short extension ladder
