At 13:23 on Thursday, 22 August, 2024, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as LGV Fire in Market Drayton.

2 fire appliances were mobilised from Prees and Shrewsbury. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Hosereel jet
  • Thermal imaging camera

Fire involving large amount of rubbish smoldering in back of bin lorry. Crews have used 1 hosereel jet to extinguish fire in situ and later dampened down contents of refuse at Whitchurch refuse centre. Thermal imagine camera also used to check that refuse had reached ambient temperatures.
