This morning Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Swift Water Rescue Technicians are taking the rescue boat & equipment from Shrewsbury Fire Station to Machynlleth to assist Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service in specialist searches of open water, as they continue their search for the missing 5 year old April Jones. Dyfed Powys Police stated: “The dynamics of the search for April Jones have now changed and it is time to leave the professionals to carry on with the searches” Working near, on or in water is inherently hazardous. Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service personnel receive specialist training to enable them to operate safely in this environment. Area Manager Andy Johnson “Our thoughts at this time are with April’s family. I am sure that everyone in the Service, as well as the people of Shropshire, will join me in wishing all of the search teams well in their mission to find April.”
