At 15:08 on Monday, 5 January, 2026, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Gobowen.

2 fire appliances including the Incident Support Unit were mobilised from Oswestry and Whitchurch.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Hosereel jet
• Small gear

Fire involving 1 large hollow tree. Crews extinguished fire using hosereel jet and fogging unit from Incident Support Unit.
