At 08:42 on Thursday, 11 May, 2017, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Near Newport.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Newport.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Hosereel jet
• Shovels/Forks/Brooms

Approximately 5 square metres of grass and undergrowth smouldering crews used shovels and an extended hose reel jet to extinguish and damp down
