At 14:42 on Saturday, 11 April, 2020, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Shrewsbury.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Shrewsbury.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Beaters
  • Knapsacks

Fire involving approx 30 x 20 metres of grass and undergrowth. Crews used beaters and a knapsack sprayer to extinguish. This was an out of control bonfire.

Build bonfires well clear of buildings and never use flammable liquids to start the fire. Before you light the bonfire, check that children and animals are not hiding inside and are a safe distance away. Don't leave bonfires unattended. Don't light bonfires in unsuitable weather conditions.
