Call Outs and Hoax call 2020/21

Reference:

1164

Request detail:

I am making this request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I am attempting to find which areas suffer the most from hoax callers to the fire service in the UK.

My questions in relation to your fire service are as follows:

1.) How many call outs has the fire service attended for the years 2020 and 2021?

2.) What were the reasons for the callouts for the years 2020 and 2021?

3.) How many call outs were hoaxes?

4.) How many fines were issued for these hoax calls?

Response detail:

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request.  Please see responses below

1.) How many call outs has the fire service attended for the years 2020 and 2021? See attached excel spreadsheet

2.) What were the reasons for the callouts for the years 2020 and 2021? See attached excel spreadsheet

3.) How many call outs were hoaxes? See attached excel spreadsheet. Please note Hoax Calls are identified as False Alarm Malicious

4.) How many fines were issued for these hoax calls? None – Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) do not issue fines. Prosecutions would be carried out by the Police. SFRS send warning texts to the caller to advise they could be disconnected and the police informed if we can identify a known malicious caller – i.e. the same caller has made multiple calls and we have mobilised.
