At 15:12 on Sunday, 20 December, 2015, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Kitchen Fire in Broseley.
2 fire appliances were mobilised from Much Wenlock and Tweedale. An Operations officer was in attendance.
Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

- Covering jet
- Hosereel jet
- Thermal imaging camera

Persons Reported Fire

At 18:34 on Tuesday, 15 December, 2015, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Persons Reported Fire in Shrewsbury.
3 fire appliances were mobilised from Baschurch and Shrewsbury. An Operations officer was in attendance.
Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:
- Breathing Apparatus (BA)
- Covering jet
- Hosereel jet
Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.
At 18:35 this evening Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call to a fire in a third floor flat with reports of one person trapped inside. Three fire appliances were mobilised from Shrewsbury Fire Station and reported smoke issuing around the door on their arrival. Two Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus forced entry into the flat to find a fire on the cooker and one female collapsed within the kitchen .Firefighters extinguished the fire and rescued the female before administering oxygen. The female was later transferred to hospital via Ambulance. Station Manager Adam Matthews said “This incident serves as a timely reminder that working smoke alarms save lives, the alarm was raised by a passerby after hearing the smoke alarm operating. I would also like to congratulate our Firefighters and Fire Control staff who mobilised appliances to this incident in under one minute with the first appliance being in attendance in under 5 minutes of the call being received”. 01743 260200. 7 fire appliances including the Aerial Ladder Platform, the Light Pumping Unit and the Water Carrier were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Hodnet, Shrewsbury, Telford, Telford Central, Tweedale and Wellington. Operations, Fire Investigation and Safety officers were in attendance.

Fire involving 1 derelict public house, fire now supressed and restricted to the confines of the building, Aerial Ladder Platform and 2 main jets in use extinguishing hot spots in roof , efforts being made to ventilate property.

Small fire in grill pan out on arrival. 2 Breathing Apparatus, 1 Hose Reel Jet and 1 Covering Jet. Ambulance attending for male with possible smoke inhalation.

Most kitchen fires occur when people are distracted or leave things unattended.
- Never use a toaster under a shelf or kitchen cupboard - pull it out from under the cupboard when in use.
- Don't hang wet or damp tea towels on the cooker to dry.
- Dirty grill pans and ovens cause fires. Help keep them clean.
- When using a microwave read the cooking instructions carefully, ensure you don't put in any metal objects.
- Kettles can cause serious burns from the steam, make sure you don't lean over the kettle when it'.s boiling.
