At 09:54 on Monday, 1 September, 2014, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as Smoke In Area in Telford.

Fire appliances was mobilised from Telford.

False alarm caused by controlled burn, responsible person in attendance.

Fire Control said: "If you are thinking of having a bonfire, please call Fire Control on 01743 260290 to advise us. This will help to avoid mobilising crews unnecessarily if neighbours or passers by, see smoke and flames and report it to us as an emergency."

Build bonfires well clear of buildings and never use flammable liquids to start the fire. Before you light the bonfire, check that children and animals are not hiding inside and are a safe distance away. Don't leave bonfires unattended. Don't light bonfires in unsuitable weather conditions.
