At 18:37 on Sunday, 12 October, 2014, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Kitchen Fire in Shrewsbury.
1 fire appliance was mobilised from Shrewsbury.
Fire involving chip pan in domestic property, fire was out on arrival but the kitchen was heavily smoke logged. Thermal image camera in use and one female treated for burns and smoke inhalation.

Most kitchen fires occur when people are distracted or leave things unattended.
- Never use a toaster under a shelf or kitchen cupboard - pull it out from under the cupboard when in use.
- Don't hang wet or damp tea towels on the cooker to dry.
- Dirty grill pans and ovens cause fires. Help keep them clean.
- When using a microwave read the cooking instructions carefully, ensure you don't put in any metal objects.
- Kettles can cause serious burns from the steam, make sure you don't lean over the kettle when it'.s boiling.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:
- Breathing Apparatus (BA)
- Hosereel jet
- Main jet
Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service .
Small fire involving an extractor fan in the kitchen area of a domestic property. Crews are using 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet, 1 covering jet and positive pressure ventilation to deal with the fire. Two males have been treated for smoke inhalation as a precaution
