At 04:13 on Sunday, 1 February, 2015, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire in Whitchurch.

5 fire appliances including the Heavy Pumping Unit and the Water Carrier were mobilised from Baschurch, Ellesmere, Oswestry, Prees, Shrewsbury, Tweedale, Wem and Whitchurch.

Barn 200m x 50m containing approximately 500 tonnes of hay and 1 tractor fully involved in fire. 2 main jets and 2 hose reel jets in use to extinguish fire.

At 19:04 on Monday, 12 January, 2015, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire in Bridgnorth.

6 fire appliances including the Light Pumping Unit and the Water Carrier were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Craven Arms and Much Wenlock. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Breathing Apparatus (BA)
  • Hosereel jet
  • Main jet

Fire involving pig sty measuring 4 metres x 4 metres. 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets and 1 main jet in use. Three cows and 18 piglets have been rescued and moved to safe location

3 fire appliances including the Light Pumping Unit and the Water Carrier were mobilised from Baschurch, Oswestry and Shrewsbury. An Operations officer was in attendance.

CALL RECEIVED TO REPORT OF BARN FIRE, THIS INCIDENT TURNED OUT TO BE A FALSE ALARM CAUSED BY CONTROLLED BURNING

At 14:46 on Wednesday, 26 November, 2014, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire in Kynnersley, Telford.

8 fire appliances were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Newport, Prees, Shrewsbury, Telford Central, Tweedale and Wellington.

Fire involving barn approximately 60 m x 40 m containing 2000 cubic metres of straw. Open sided building is of steel construction with an asbestos roof. Crews using 1 main jet, 2 hose reel jets and 2 breathing apparatus to protect adjacent buildings.

At 19:49 on Saturday, 1 November, 2014, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire in Oswestry.

6 fire appliances including the Light Pumping Unit were mobilised from Baschurch, Ellesmere, Oswestry and Shrewsbury.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Hosereel jet
  • Main jet

Fire involving one 5 bay barn approximately 15 x 40 metres severely damaged by fire, also 1 tractor, a ride on mower and a quantity of other farm machinery destroyed by fire. Farm vehicle being used to remove damaged bales from barn, crews damping down and turning over. One main jet and one hose reel jet in use.

1 farm building approximately 20m x 40m, 1 Manitou and 6 tonne of straw involved in fire, 4 breathing apparatus 2 hose reel jets 1 main jet in use.

5 fire appliances including the Incident Command Unit, the Light Pumping Unit, the Water Carrier and the Welfare Unit were mobilised from Baschurch, Ellesmere, Oswestry, Prees, Shrewsbury and Telford Central.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Covering jet
  • Main jet

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Police.

1 barn approximately 30m x 50m involved in fire and 1 LGV and 1 saloon car destroyed by fire. 5 main jets in use.

At 17:58 on Tuesday, 2 September, 2014, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire in Cleobury Mortimer.

6 fire appliances including the Heavy Pumping Unit, the Incident Command Unit, the Water Carrier and the Welfare Unit were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms, Ludlow and Tweedale.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Covering jet
  • Hosereel jet
  • Main jet
  • Open water supply
  • Strategically located water tanks

The stop message was received at Wed, 09/03/2014 - 03:32

SM Blizard said: "Crews attended a barn fire in Oreton, Cleobury Mortimer at 17:58 today. On arrival it was found to be a 6 bay open sided barn involving 400 tonnes of baled hay. Five fire engines including 2 from Hereford & Worcester and 3 from Shropshire, attended along with the water carrier from Bridgnorth, heavy pumping unit form Craven Arms, FAST safety team from Telford and 3 operational officers from Shrewsbury. Crews used 3 water curtain sprays, 2 main jets and 1 hose reel jet to protect surrounding buildings and nearby storage of hay bales, using water from a nearby hydrant and a 8500L dam from the water carrier. Crews are currently still in attendance monitoring this incident and protecting surrounding buildings. SM Blizard who was the officer in charge predicts that crews will be on scene for the next 24 hours. Police and Fire are investigating the cause of the fire."

Build bonfires well clear of buildings and never use flammable liquids to start the fire. Before you light the bonfire, check that children and animals are not hiding inside and are a safe distance away. Don't leave bonfires unattended. Don't light bonfires in unsuitable weather conditions.
