Thank you for your Freedom of Information request. Please find the information requested below:

How long does it take from someone phoning for the firemen to arrive on scene in Ludlow? Average response time from call to attendance for Ludlow in the past 5 years = 00:11:23 (HHMMSS). You may also find our Community Risk Information Plan 2021-2025 document of interest: Community Risk Management Plan 2021-2025 | Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service. This contains our commitment to response times as one of our corporate performance indicators (pages 16 and 31-33).

Where does the dispatch come from?  Within Shropshire all fire calls are processed through the Service’s own fire control centre, based at its headquarters in Shrewsbury. All calls are logged, assets dispatched and co-ordinated by dedicated fire control staff, who operate 24/7, 365 days a year.

On average how many phone calls a week do you get that are not necessary ( so they could have found someone else to deal with the situation)? The data recorded in our Incident Recording System cannot be used to determine if calls were necessary or not, nor if they were referred to elsewhere unfortunately. We have however filtered for calls we have received that are classed as Non-Attendance - the average calls per week for Non-Attendance in the last 5 years is 127.

You may already be aware that all Fire and Rescue Services in England submit data to the Home Office annually which you may also find useful: Fire statistics data tables - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). This data includes response times and is currently published for the period April 2020 to March 2021: Detailed analysis of response times to fires: England, April 2020 to March 2021 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
