At 18:02 on Saturday, 8 October, 2022, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as House Fire in Newport.

2 fire appliances were mobilised from Wellington. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Reports of oven fire in kitchen which involved small fire on top of electric cooker. The fire was out on the arrival of fire crews. Crews made a thorough inspection of property
