At 18:47 on Saturday, 3 December, 2022, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as AFA in Newport.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Wellington.

Reports of automatic fire alarm activation which proved to be a false alarm caused by fumes from cooking. Fire crews gave advice to occupier.
