At 11:52 on Sunday, 16 July, 2023, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Car Fire in Newport.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Wellington.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Breathing Apparatus (BA)
• Hosereel jet

This incident involves one car 100% destroyed by fire. Crews wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
