At 17:54 on Sunday, 28 July, 2024, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Field Of Straw in Whitchurch.

3 fire appliances including the Incident Support Unit were mobilised from Market Drayton, Wem and Whitchurch. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Hosereel jet

Field of hay on fire. Measuring approximately 200 square metres. Crews used 2 hose reel jets to extinguish fire. Assistance given by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
