At 20:33 on Sunday, 22 December, 2024, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Shrewsbury.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Shrewsbury.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Thermal imaging camera

Report of fire on playing field at Upton Lane. Crews carried out extensive search on foot using a thermal imaging camera and no fire was found. This was a false alarm good intent.
