1. What are the operational objectives of Shropshire fire service?
These are within the services Annual Plan 2022-23. A copy of the Annual Plan can be found on our website https://www.shropshirefire.gov.uk/annual-plan
2. What are the crewing standards of Shropshire fire service
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service have 5 wholetime appliances across 3 wholetime stations :
Telford Central Rescue Pump = 5
Telford Central 2nd appliance = 4 , on nights shifts Telford Central 2nd appliance is based at Tweedale Fire Station, staffing is increased to 5 on this appliance for night shifts.
Wellington Rescue Pump = 5
Shrewsbury Rescue Pump =5
Shrewsbury 2nd appliance = 4
All on call fire appliances must be staffed with a minimum of 4 , all on call fire appliances are capable of carrying 8/9 personnel
3. What operational vehicles and equipment do Shropshire fire and rescue have?
28 Fire appliances across 23 stations
7 Incident Support Units
1 High Volume Pump and hose layer
2 Light pumping units
2 Aerial Ladder Platforms
1 Boat
1 Rescue Tender
1 Incident command unit
1 foam pod
1 environment pod
2 water carriers
1 Pinzgauer
4. What training is provided with Shropshire fire and rescue?
Shropshire provides all operational staff with training required to perform their role.
Recruits courses (wholetime and on call)
Refresher courses (BA, RTC, working at height, hazardous materials )
Incident command courses
Driver training
Swift water rescue courses
Boat courses
Pumping unit courses
Animal rescue
Management courses (sickness, discipline etc….)
Some of the areas above will only be applicable to stations that have that resource
