On Thursday the 11th of March personnel from Market Drayton, Hodnet, Wellington and Incident Command Shrewsbury were formally recognised by Anthony Marsh, Chief Ambulance officer of West Midlands Ambulance Service for their efforts in the rescue and successful resuscitation of an elderly female casualty at an RTC in Market Drayton in October 2009.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to an address in School Road, Donnington at 11.34pm on Wednesday 24th February. A bottle containing flammable liquid had been thrown at the front of the house, causing damage to the front door.

The county’s newly appointed Deputy Chief Fire Officer John Redmond has vowed to maintain the high standards at Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service which have seen fires fall to a record low due to successful fire prevention initiatives.

With a 27 year career in the fire and rescue service, John (49) moves to the county from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. He takes over the role from Paul Raymond who was promoted to Chief Fire Officer last year.

Firefighters from Tweedale were called to a report of a car fire at The Royal British Legion Club, Station Road, Dawley at 10.45pm on Sunday 28th February.

It is believed that a flammable liquid was used to set fire to the Renault Espace people carrier. Firefighter' s received reports that two youths were seen leaving the scene wearing hooded tops.
