Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is offering to help maintain the welfare of staff from West Midlands Ambulance Service following the introduction of their new operational model.

The Service is offering the use of the fire station facilities for ambulance workers whilst on shift. The offer comes after WMAS closed four of their little-used bases.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging the public to prepare their chimney for winter. 

This week marks the National Fire Chiefs’ Council’s Chimney Fire Safety Week (Monday 30 August), and although the weather is warm now, the colder months will soon be approaching. Therefore, there is no better time to ensure your chimney is swept, clear and ready to use when the temperatures drop again.

The 6-camera system provides 360 degree coverage of the appliances; 1 is mounted internally (front-road facing on dash) and the other 5 externally.

The seminars are aimed at persons who have a responsibility for fire safety in a business and if you want to know if this applies to you, ask yourself these questions:  

  • Are you the employer?  
  • Do you have control of the premises?  
  • Do you own the building?

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service are offering women the opportunity to experience what it takes to start an exciting career with them as an on-call firefighter with a taster session being held at Ellesmere Fire Station on Saturday 22 May.

Visitors will be shown around fire appliances, equipment such as breathing apparatus and watch a demonstration from the Ellesmere crew.

To be eligible to join as an on-call firefighter you must:

  • Be 18 or over
