A new period of industrial action will unfortunately fall on the same day as the planned Open Day at Shrewsbury Fire Station.

Because of this unforeseen circumstance we have cancelled the event.

An appeal has gone out for more “on call” firefighters across Shropshire including the Minsterley and Bishops Castle areas. “Giving something back to the community” is what inspires most firefighters, said Bishops Castle Watch Manager Tracey Magill, an on call firefighter with 30 years’ experience, who is a self-employed oak floor fitter.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service attended a report of a fire in a porch at 3.32pm Tuesday 15th April in Wildwood, Woodside, Telford.

Two appliances from Telford and an appliance from Tweedale, together with a Fire Investigations Officer attended the fire which was started deliberately.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service attended several incidents in Oswestry over the weekend.

At 5.10pm Sunday 13th April 2014 a report was received of a tree stump and overgrowth on fire in Twyford Lane, Oswestry. At 5.12pm we received a report of household rubbish and a mattress on fire under the bridge in Maesbury Road, Oswestry.
