Crews assisted the RSPCA with the rescue of a cat who was stuck approximately 20 feet up a tree since Wednesday. A short extension ladder and a line bag were used and the cat was left in the care of the RSPCA

This incident was a false alarm caused by water leaking from shower into detector head

Smoke alarms cost as little as £5 and are available at most DIY stores. It is recommended that smoke alarms should be fitted on the ceiling one per floor and they should be 30cm away from walls or light fittings (Usually top and bottom of stairs). Smoke alarms should be tested weekly by pressing the button to briefly activate the alarm. Change the battery once a year (unless it's a ten year alarm) and gently vacuum the alarm twice a year to remove dust from the sensors.
