5 fire appliances including the Rescue Tender were mobilised from Hodnet, Market Drayton, Prees and Wellington. An Operations officer was in attendance.

RTC involving 1 saloon car and 1 motorcycle. One male trapped in saloon car, extrication in progress using Holmatro cutting equipment. The A41 has been closed around the area for scene safety

At 15:59 on Saturday, 14 January, 2017, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Persons Reported Fire in Broseley.
3 fire appliances were mobilised from Much Wenlock, Telford and Tweedale. Operations and Fire Investigation officers were in attendance.
Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:
- Breathing Apparatus (BA)
- Covering jet
- Hosereel jet
Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.
“West Mercia Police and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service are currently conducting a joint investigation in relation to a house fire in Benthall, Broseley yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately an elderly male was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police are not treating the matter as suspicious at this time and enquiries are ongoing. SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting the fire, classified as Persons Reported Fire in Benthall, Broseley at 15:59 on Saturday, 14 January, 2017, 3 fire appliances were mobilised from Much Wenlock, Telford and Tweedale. Operations and Fire Investigation officers were in attendance. Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire: • Breathing Apparatus (BA) • Covering jet • Hosereel jet West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police were also in attendance. The fire occurred in a detached two storey dwelling and involved the ground floor. 6 crews wearing breathing apparatus were required, using 3 hose reel jets and 1 covering jet. Police and Fire Investigation Officers have been on scene today and investigations into the cause are likely to go on into next week. Firefighters from Telford and Tweedale have also been in Benthall, Broseley today, providing community safety advice to local residents. At 00:24 on Sunday, 1 January, 2017, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Kitchen Fire in Telford.
2 fire appliances were mobilised from Telford Central. An Operations officer was in attendance.
Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service .
2 adults and 2 children rescued from smoke logged property from unattended cooking. Oxygen therapy administered by fire service. The alarm was raised by a neighbour after hearing the smoke alarm.

Most kitchen fires occur when people are distracted or leave things unattended.
- Never use a toaster under a shelf or kitchen cupboard - pull it out from under the cupboard when in use.
- Don't hang wet or damp tea towels on the cooker to dry.
- Dirty grill pans and ovens cause fires. Help keep them clean.
- When using a microwave read the cooking instructions carefully, ensure you don't put in any metal objects.
- Kettles can cause serious burns from the steam, make sure you don't lean over the kettle when it'.s boiling.
