At 08:05 on Tuesday, 7 May, 2024, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as Hazardous Substances in Newport.

2 fire appliances including the Environmental Protection Unit and the Prime Mover were mobilised from Telford Central, Tweedale and Wellington. Operations, Hazmat and Principal officers were in attendance.

Attending crews used the following equipment:

• Breathing Apparatus (BA)

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.

This was an isolated incident involving plant room of swimming pool. Thorough investigation carried out by Fire Service Personnel. Utilities isolated, room ventilated and advice given by Hazardous Materials Advisor.
