Every home should have a fire escape plan - how would you get out of your home if there was a fire?
What is your main escape route, it is the way you always come into your home? There may be another route (backdoor/patio door)? Keep routes free of obstructions, have door and windows keys available. Walk through the route as a family and arrange a meeting place outside.
