Fire involving railway sleepers in domestic garage, four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and one covering jet in use.

At 05:28 on Saturday, 25 February, 2017, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as House Fire Persons Reported in Ludlow.

4 fire appliances including the Incident Support Unit were mobilised from Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms and Ludlow. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Breathing Apparatus (BA)
  • Covering jet
  • Hosereel jet
  • Positive Pressure Ventilation

Fire involving living room of domestic property, all persons accounted for, one person suffering smoke inhalation and flash burns, four breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one covering jet and positive pressure ventilation used.

Smoke alarms cost as little as £5 and are available at most DIY stores. It is recommended that smoke alarms should be fitted on the ceiling one per floor and they should be 30cm away from walls or light fittings (Usually top and bottom of stairs). Smoke alarms should be tested weekly by pressing the button to briefly activate the alarm. Change the battery once a year (unless it's a ten year alarm) and gently vacuum the alarm twice a year to remove dust from the sensors.

Also at the scene of the incident were: a utility company.

Fire in fuse board in kitchen area of a semi detached property. Kitchen heavily smoke logged.

At 15:59 on Saturday, 14 January, 2017, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Persons Reported Fire in Broseley.

3 fire appliances were mobilised from Much Wenlock, Telford and Tweedale. Operations and Fire Investigation officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Breathing Apparatus (BA)
  • Covering jet
  • Hosereel jet

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.

“West Mercia Police and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service are currently conducting a joint investigation in relation to a house fire in Benthall, Broseley yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately an elderly male was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police are not treating the matter as suspicious at this time and enquiries are ongoing. SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting the fire, classified as Persons Reported Fire in Benthall, Broseley at 15:59 on Saturday, 14 January, 2017, 3 fire appliances were mobilised from Much Wenlock, Telford and Tweedale. Operations and Fire Investigation officers were in attendance. Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire: • Breathing Apparatus (BA) • Covering jet • Hosereel jet West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police were also in attendance. The fire occurred in a detached two storey dwelling and involved the ground floor. 6 crews wearing breathing apparatus were required, using 3 hose reel jets and 1 covering jet. Police and Fire Investigation Officers have been on scene today and investigations into the cause are likely to go on into next week. Firefighters from Telford and Tweedale have also been in Benthall, Broseley today, providing community safety advice to local residents. 5 fire appliances including the Aerial Ladder Platform and the Fuel Bowser were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock, Shrewsbury, Tweedale and Wellington. Operations and Fire Investigation officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Covering jet
  • Hosereel jet
  • Thermal imaging camera

Fire involving first floor and roof space of disused building. Two hose reel jets, four breathing apparatus and one covering jet used to extinguish fire. Aerial Ladder Platform used for removing roof tiles to check for hot spots with the thermal imaging camera.
