At 00:09 on Saturday, 1 August, 2015, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Property Fire.

4 fire appliances including the Fuel Bowser, the Heavy Pumping Unit, the Incident Command Unit, the Light Pumping Unit and the Water Carrier were mobilised from Baschurch, Ellesmere, Oswestry and Shrewsbury. Operations and Hazmat officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Breathing Apparatus (BA)
  • Ground monitor
  • Hosereel jet
  • Main jet

Crews are presently dealing with a fire in a commercial building on Rednal Industrial Estate. Firefighters from Ellesmere, Baschurch, Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Tweedale have the situation under control and efforts to protect storage areas are being made. The building has been completely destroyed by the fire and a number of cylinders were believed to have been involved. Crews are likely to remain on scene for the next few hours damping down and making the area safe. Investigations into the cause are currently ongoing.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Oswestry. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to deal with the incident:

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service , the Police and a utility company.

Road Traffic Collision involving HGV and car no persons trapped. Gas board dealing with fractured gas main.

At 04:54 on Tuesday, 13 January, 2015, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Property Fire in Oswestry.

3 fire appliances were mobilised from Baschurch and Oswestry. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Breathing Apparatus (BA)
  • Ground monitor
  • Hosereel jet

Fire involving 1 single storey garage, approximately 3m x 10m. Two hose reel jets, 2 breathing apparatus, ground monitor, drag rakes and pitch forks in use.

At 08:59 on Sunday, 12 October, 2014, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire in Ludlow.

6 fire appliances including the Incident Command Unit were mobilised from Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms, Ludlow and Shrewsbury.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Ground monitor

At 08:59 on Sunday 12/10/14 Shropshire Fire Control received a 999 call to a shed fire at Middleton Sidings, Ludlow ,Upon questioning of the caller fire control ascertained that this shed was used as a workshop and contained acetylene and LPG cylinders. Crews from Ludlow and Craven Arms were mobilised along with an officer from Shrewsbury When Crews arrived they quickly placed a cordon around the incident while police officers evacuated local residents from neighbouring properties as a precaution. Crews made pumps four due to the scale of the incident In the early stages of the incident eye witnesses reported that 2 explosions were heard, after investigation this was found to be the LPG and acetylene that had exploded. Crews worked tirelessly throughout bringing the fire under control at around 12:00 with the all clear being given at 12:30 for local residents to return to their properties. The ambulance service were in attendance and were joined by their specialist H.A.R.T crews Due to the prompt action of the fire service and police there were no reported casualties in what was an extremely dangerous fire situation.

Shed Fire

Weston Rhyn near Oswestry

At 19:09 on Wednesday, 1 June, 2016, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Shed Fire in Weston Rhyn near Oswestry .

2 fire appliances were mobilised from Oswestry. A Fire Investigation officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Ground monitor
  • Hosereel jet

Fire involving domestic shed and hedge, one propane cylinder also involved, crews now have the fire under control using a ground monitor to cool the cylinder and one hose reel jet, damping down and turning over in progress. Fire investigation is now taking place

Barn Fire

At 18:17 on Saturday, 12 March, 2016, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire in Ludlow.

4 fire appliances including the Light Pumping Unit and the Water Carrier were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms and Ludlow. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Ground monitor
  • Hosereel jet

One stone barn of approximately 300 square metres, approximately 25% involved in fire. Cordon in place for safety due to the potentially unsafe structural integrity of the building and presence of small amount of agricultural chemicals.

At 21:22 on Tuesday, 2 February, 2016, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Telford .

6 fire appliances including the Light Pumping Unit and the Welfare Unit were mobilised from Albrighton, Newport, Shrewsbury, Telford, Telford Central, Tweedale, Wellington and Wem. Operations, Hazmat and Principal officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Ground monitor
  • Main jet

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Police.

Large External Fire involving large quantity of wood and embers being spread over surrounding area. Acetylene cylinders involved. Currently 40+ Fire Fighters In attendance. Area now sectorised - 8 main jets in use and ground monitors. 200 meter cordon in place. Police in attendance and liaising with local residents. UPDATE 05:45: 3 Fire Engines still in attendance - good progress still being made - ground monitor still in use and covering acetylene cylinder - temperature checks being carried out every 20minutes. Site Machinery being used to break down timber stacks to help damp down the area. Fire Investigation will attend first thing.
