At 08:59 on Sunday, 12 October, 2014, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire in Ludlow.

6 fire appliances including the Incident Command Unit were mobilised from Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms, Ludlow and Shrewsbury.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

At 08:59 on Sunday 12/10/14 Shropshire Fire Control received a 999 call to a shed fire at Middleton Sidings, Ludlow ,Upon questioning of the caller fire control ascertained that this shed was used as a workshop and contained acetylene and LPG cylinders. Crews from Ludlow and Craven Arms were mobilised along with an officer from Shrewsbury When Crews arrived they quickly placed a cordon around the incident while police officers evacuated local residents from neighbouring properties as a precaution. Crews made pumps four due to the scale of the incident In the early stages of the incident eye witnesses reported that 2 explosions were heard, after investigation this was found to be the LPG and acetylene that had exploded. Crews worked tirelessly throughout bringing the fire under control at around 12:00 with the all clear being given at 12:30 for local residents to return to their properties. The ambulance service were in attendance and were joined by their specialist H.A.R.T crews Due to the prompt action of the fire service and police there were no reported casualties in what was an extremely dangerous fire situation.
