At 00:53 on Wednesday, 22 November, 2023, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as Water Rescue in Telford.

2 fire appliances including the Incident Command Unit and the Water Rescue Unit were mobilised from Shrewsbury, Telford and Tweedale. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Reports of person in Balancing Lake at the rear of Claridon Hotel which proved to be a false alarm. Shropshire Fire Service search and water rescue teams together with Police made a thorough search of the balancing lake and surrounding area and no persons were found. Fire crew also used Shropshire Fire Service Drone to search the area.
