At 14:44 on Saturday, 30 May, 2015, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as Water Rescue in Ironbridge.

3 fire appliances including the Water Rescue Unit were mobilised from Shrewsbury, Telford and Tweedale. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews were called to reports of a canoeist in distress in The River Severn at Buildwas, 2 crews were mobilised from Telford Central Fire Station, an Operational Officer and the Specialist Water Rescue Unit from Shrewsbury. A second call was received just as the crews were booking mobile to the incident stating that the canoeist was safely out of the water, therefore was no longer any need for the Fire Service to attend.
