At 08:56 on Thursday, 26 October, 2017, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as House Fire Persons Reported in Wellington.

7 fire appliances including the Incident Command Unit were mobilised from Shrewsbury, Telford Central, Tweedale and Wellington. Operations, Hazmat and Safety officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • 9/10.5m ladder
  • Breathing Apparatus (BA)
  • Covering jet
  • Hosereel jet
  • Positive Pressure Ventilation

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.

Fire involving commercial property with 1st and 2nd floor accommodation, fire on 1st floor. 6 breathing apparatus, 3 hose reel jets, 1 covering jet, PPV to clear smoke, 9m ladder to check external woodwork 1 person rescued by fire service personnel

Cooker fire in domestic residential property with some smoke damage on the ground floor. PPV fan in use to clear smoke logging.

Also at the scene of the incident were: the British Red Cross Fire and Emergency Support Service (FESS) and the Land Ambulance Service .

Fire in first floor kitchen. 100% damaged by smoke and heat. 6 breathing apparatus and 1 hose reel jet in use. Assistance from North West Fire Brigade, and Staffs Fire Service.

Fire involving a dishwasher in kitchen on the ground floor of a detached residential property, PPV fan in use to clear smoke logging, Fire Service personnel also isolated the electricity supply. 1 rescued cat given oxygen therapy.

3 fire appliances were mobilised from Hodnet, Market Drayton and Prees. Operations and Fire Investigation officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Thermal imaging camera

Fire in kitchen of domestic property, 6 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets, 1 covering jet, thermal image camera and positive pressure ventilation fan used. 3 dogs and 2 gerbils rescued fit and well

Smoke alarms cost as little as £5 and are available at most DIY stores. It is recommended that smoke alarms should be fitted on the ceiling one per floor and they should be 30cm away from walls or light fittings (Usually top and bottom of stairs). Smoke alarms should be tested weekly by pressing the button to briefly activate the alarm. Change the battery once a year (unless it's a ten year alarm) and gently vacuum the alarm twice a year to remove dust from the sensors.
