Albrighton Fire Station is preparing to hold their first recruitment morning of 2009 on Saturday 28th February from 10am – 1pm, at the fire station in Newport Road. Anyone interested in joining, or just wanting to know more about the retained service are encouraged to attend.
Men and women are needed to support their community by taking on the role of a firefighter working the retained duty system. The retained duty system firefighter is a rewarding part-time job that serves your local community, where you could earn between £3,500 and £7,500 a year.
Applicants must live, or work, within 5 minutes of Albrighton fire station and be available to respond to emergency calls during the daytime Monday to Friday as a minimum.
"We want our workforce to represent the community it serves and would particularly like to hear from women and individuals from ethnic minorities. If you are over 18 and have a good level of fitness then we would like to hear from you." said Councilor Stuart West chairman of the Shropshire & Wrekin Fire Authority.
During the recruitment morning, people will be able to speak to firefighters and look at the types of equipment used to deal with many different types of emergencies, including fires and road accidents. There will also be the opportunity to get advice on the recruitment procedure. We will also have a stand outside the Red House in Albrighton High Street, where those interested can come to find out more about the role.
