The voices of children from two school choirs accompanied by Shropshire firefighters and their families and friends will ring out from a county church in the fire service’s annual Christmas Festival of Carols.
Pupils from the Old Hall School and Dothill School in Wellington will join members of Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service at All Saints Church in Wellington on December 12 at 7pm.
The annual event raises money for various charities and this year aims to raise funds for the church, Wellington 2nd Guides and the Firefighters Charity.
Brigade chaplain Rev Murray McBride will lead the Festival of Carols service.
A 20ft Christmas tree donated by Hoo Farm is due to be delivered to the church by off duty firefighters on December 6 for all churchgoers to enjoy throughout the festive season.
“Families with children are particularly welcome to the service as Santa will make an appearance bringing with him early Christmas presents,” said Assistant Chief Fire Officer Steve Worrall.
“It promises to be an entertaining evening. It is always a relaxed occasion with rousing singing from everyone. Following the service everyone is invited to join us at All Saints Parish Centre for mince pies and hot drinks to join in the festive cheer.”
